Trans/TC/Diff Fluid change- grind 4th

Hey guys n gals, I'm fairly new to the Mitsubishi world so please be patient.
Im coming from Honda's, BMW's and Subarus...

I Just bought my 03 EVO 8 - 5spd Trans about 4 months ago and I'm in love with it. Obviously i couldn't leave it stock, but one of my biggest concerns is the trans/TC/Diff.

I changed the fluids with 75w90NS Trans/TCASE and 75w140NS in the rear

Since the change at WOT- when i shift from 3rd to 4th i have noticed it has been a lot harder to get it into gear and recently its been grinding. When i was running Diaqueen before it was perfect with no grinds ....

Any suggestions? i don't mind spending more money to make sure this car stays reliable its my Daily

thanks again

If I were you I would drain every fluid you put in the car and start over. For the transfer case and and rear differential I would stick with the OEM Mitsubishi Diaqueen oil. For a daily driven Evo you can't go wrong. As for the transmission there a few really choices you have. Ditch the current Redline oil you're using and switch over to the new Redline MT-85 transmission oil. It was developed with the Evo's 5 speed in mind. You can also run the Redline cocktail (two parts MT-90, one part MTL) and this has been proven time and time again to work exceptionally well. You can also use Amsoil MTG transmission oil and it too is fantastic. Last but not least is the Motul Gear 300 75W90 transmission oil. Stick with any of those four oils and you'll be in good shape. Hope this helps. GL

I just recently changed all the drivetrain fluids with the kit that MAP sells. I believe its 75W-90 for the diff and TC and the cocktail of MT-90 and MTL for the transmission. I had similar issues as OP before the change and the shift to 4th would grind every time. Ever since the switch it's been extremely smooth and cleared up the issue. While you're working on the car too, I'd recommend removing the restrictor on the clutch master cylinder. The clutch engages much more consistently now.
