Martin is helping us with some UTEC development.

I don't think the UTEC will stay on the car, but hey I could be wrong.

I just fired her up! The 4" aluminum intake piping looks sick!! The intake is pretty trick as it allows different mounting of the air filter, stock position, cold air (below the frame rail) and is adjustable to go around stock and aftermarket upper intercooler pipes. Pics coming soon...

We are doing some UTEC testing for the great people at TurboXS and I think it will be a great product. I've used it on WRX's and it's worked very well in the past. I'm sure it will work well on the EVO but we'll probably stick with the EMS because it allows us to run speed density and gets rid of the MAF. Nathan, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the UTEC will allow for speed density in the future.

BTW the header does not contact any part of the radiator or radiator hose, it runs about 1-1.5" away from the hose at it's closest point and we're doing a fire-sleeve to keep the heat away from the hose. Being .125" thick wall, the header has more thermal mass and won't heat up as quickly and and build up as much surface heat as a thin wall header. That will help keep heat away from the engine bay.

Regards,

Martin

so, I've heard. if turbo xs comes with such an upgrade the UTEC will be the best piggyback ever at a slightly lower price than the AEM

This is correct. You will also have a few choices for different MAF sensors in either a draw though or blow though configuration.

They managed plenty pulls at over 500whp with just an SAFC2.. I believe 525 or 530 was the top pull..

..with AEM EMS they reached 551whp.. and the torque jumped quite a bit compared to the SAFC..

stock internals (+ HKS 272/272)..

btw, i witnessed the new manifold today in person... me =

As everyone has already said it looks like an amazing kit. The manifold looks outstanding. Just a quick questions, what turbo will you be using (obviously Garrett but which one?).

Thanks Chris.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!
We will be using variations of the Garrett GT32 and GT35R turbo's that we have tested and developed on our dyno for our kit. We'll have two trims available with 750hp and 575hp potential.

That is the realistic amount of horsepower you can get with those turbochargers. How you get there, is up to you...alcohol, pump gas, race gas, corn oil, diesel...ect. There is nothing usual about 5K spool up on a GT32. We could have released this kit a long time ago but we spent a lot of time playing with different configurations of wheels and housing to get good spool and tons of horsepower. You can see a small sample of the development work in the latest issue of Modified Magazine, I wrote a turbo testing article and used some EVO graphs as examples. The GT32 spools only a few hundred RPM slower than the stock turbo and the GT35 we use spools about 600rpm slower.

Regards,

Martin

Damn.....!!! AHHHH, I think it's time for me to stop eating out, clubbing, crapping, and I guess I have to stop drinking and eating all together. hhahaha. To save up for this turbo kit!!! Well worth the pain!!!!!! Oh yea, stop driving my evo and start walking to places to save gas money...heheheh. JK. This setup looks sick man. I love the product overall quality and hp potential. All I want is 400-450whp with 4K investment.
