eBay o2 housings: Once they crack weld or replace?

While doing a turbo upgrade and manifold port I noticed my eBay o2 housing is cracked around the wastegate. I've invested some time welding nuts on to mount the stock heat shield and machined it for a nice flat mounting surface so I'd prefer not to just toss it unless welding is pointless at addressing the cracking.

Does anyone have luck cutting out the cracks and rewelding, or should I just accept it and buy something expensive.

I'd say, just get a new one also. eBay are fairly cheap.

Yeah. A new one and get it ceramic-coated.

How about ditch the ebay crap, pick up a stainless steel Muse 02 dump, make more power, and never have to worry about it cracking again.

I hear you on the Muse part, but here in CA that'd get me pulled over, ticketed, and sent to a SMOG Ref in two shakes of a lambs tail. I'd love the backpressure reduction for sure.

Turns out I just purchased one of these for $150 shipped. Hope it lasts...

I didn't see your location, so that makes sense. And yeah Greddy makes quality stuff, that should last you a long time.

I'm in CA as well.

If you are worried about visual with CHP, I would recommend ceramic coating or VHT painting a stainless TiTek or Nvidia O2, personally.

I would never let an eBay part touch my car, but that's just me. I firmly believe in doing it right and doing it once.

I support this Between the silly car laws and the even more ridiculous firearms laws I will never live in CA. Such a shame because there are so many good tracks there.

I'd done this previously and sailed through smog check:

We do have a number of great tracks around here. The other downside of the dump I forgot about is Laguna. My current set-up is 90.8dB which means I can run at any event. That's what's kept me from trying the Road Race Engineering / English style exhaust cutout.

get a new one and consider an o2 dump. MUSE makes a great affordable one.
