$2,000 mods in the next few weeks, which ones first?

I'm getting ready to spend some pesos on my 1 year old evo. I know for sure I'm getting the hks 30th with dp and i already have tanabe springs ready to be installed also. Here is the dilemma,
should I get an intake or k&n drop in? I also want to get a bov, greddy type s or Hks one for the evo8? Last but not least a mbc, which one? I am really into the reliability ting. So give me some honest feedback please people. Thanks ahead!

So far so good, but skip the BOV. The stock one is fine, esp. with bolt-ons and extra esp. with your reliability "ting" in mind. As for the intake, an open element one (Buschur, RMR, AEM, etc.) will help the top end, but apparently loses a little on the bottom end. Pick which is more important. For the MBC, I have only heard good things about the Hallman unit. I understand the Turbo XS unit is very good, too. Another good mod (esp. if you save the money on a BOV and intake) is to get flashed (Dynoflash, Buschurflash, etc.) or buy a piggyback (Works, XEDE). Air/fuel management is KEY when it comes to making safe power with the Evo.

Good luck!! Have fun modding...

Thanks for the quick reply, I am trying to hold of on the reflash until I get my hks camshafts and all the goodies listed above.
My problem with the air intake is the hole maf sensor problem people are having. As far as the mbc, who has one with out idle problems. Boost solutions will do the the major mods but I'll do some minor ones myself.

I haven't heard about this. I've had an RMR intake and intake pipe for a LONG time now with no problems. The only issue I've seen is that the induction pipe (which replaces that nasty accordion-looking one) really leans out the A/F. This is why a flash is necessary.

As far as waiting until cams, etc. are in shouldn't be an issue. I believe all the piggybacks will allow for adding mods and I know most of the reflashers here will change your map for mods for a fee less than the original flash. It's just a good idea to ensure you're getting the most of it and to keep things safe.

Good luck!

Chris

Don't worry about the blowoff valve for now. Get a Halman mbc from Turbotrix. A standard cone filter element will do fine as well. I would suggest a flash as well. It'll be like driving a whole different car after that.

save the money for a new transfer case, they cost about $2500, you'll be needing one soon.

$2000 worth of fuzzy dice...

...Or a boost controller, something for fuel control, and a turboback (Preferably one that DOESN'T have a reducer at the cat).

One or the other.

I have an evo, and my transfer case is shot, yours will be to, and I won't say I told you so.

I have 41,000 miles on my EVO so just when should I expect my transfer case to be "shot"?
