2.3 stroker with 6466???

Evo 9
Fully built 2.3, 10.5:1 compression with all the goodies, jack 4.11 transmission and stage 3 t-case.

I had the fp black before but I'm looking for some more power, it's going to be my drag car and weekend warrior. Im really considering doing the 6466 on a ff mani but I'm conserned about spool up and the lack of usable rpms. I've considered the 6266 but it's such a hard decision haha. If anyone has any input/experience on this it would be greatly appreciated. Or any other turbo ideas. Thanks! KEEP IN MIND, IM IN CO SO THE ELEVATION IS AROUND 6000ft!!!!

I hit 30lbs around 5k-5200k on a 2.2l with s3's. its quite a bit laggier than my black on the stock motor. If you have a 4.11 and live in CO that will make it a lil worse too. It's a fun turbo on the street, but that's the biggest I'd go if it's going to be driven around on the street at all.

Around 5k isn't bad at all, I have the R2's. Thanks for the input man

The 4.11 will actually help spool. Puts more load on the engine basically (like being in a higher gear), so actually it will help spool that large turbo a little earlier.

I run an hta86 on a 2.3. I do have a smaller housing on it, the .63 instead of the .82. Its mainly because its bolted to an older ams hotparts.

So while I am not using the full potential of the turbo because of the smaller housing, it never bothered me, cause im only revving to about 8200 anyways. I make full spool at about 4500 rpms.

Car makes good power too, check my sig. I have to go back in the spring and have Devin finish the race map for around 40psi. This is after I get my new 2.3 back from Devin since my motor spun a bearing this year.

I can see how that can be true, my car just felt a lot more laggy after the transmission install with the fp black.

Full spool around 4500 that's impress the 6466 is sounding more and more like the turbo I want. I was told I wouldn't be getting full spool till around 6k and that sounded pointless cause I'm only reving to 8300.. Good input guys, it's really starting to help with the decision. Have any of you guys had a direct experience with 2.3 and 6466 or know someone with that setup..

I have a 2.3 6466, and previously an HTA86. I hit full boost with the HTA86 at 4500RPM, and with the 6466 full boost at 4800RPM. Very very very fun street turbo.

Boost is at 28psi if you were wondering.

I would suggest going with a T4 twinscroll set up, especially at high elevation. I have a twinscroll 6266 and the spool as well as the transient response is awesome compared to singlescroll!

Here's a thread with the 2.3 Evo I used to own on the stock final drive. You can see the boost curve clearly. We actually slowed the boost curve down to try to keep traction. The car would spin tires in 3rd and 4th gear when the boost came on.

I like my 2.3 but I was missing the rev's. The way I drive I'm in high RPM all the time so spool wouldn't matter.

How much does a t4 twin scrool help with spool up? I'm not to familiar with the t4 setup. Still in the learning process haha
Thanks for all the input guys, I think I'm pretty much sold on the 6466 after this. Really looking forward to making some good power

I actually opted to stay away from the stroker when I went to the 6466 because I like high revving engines so I went 2.0LR but the core was bored over so its actually closer to a 2.1LR Car revs to 9500but my car is 11:1 compression so it feel very tqy. We actually dialed back tq because on my 6266 we cracked the crank at 630tq. My car does make full boost around 5700 but when I shift it stays well into the curve. Daily driving feels like a NA car until you hit 5k with your foot in the gas then all hell breaks loose.

First thing, be careful when looking at dyno graphs on here. The reason I say this is because most of the guys here are at sea level or near. From what I have seen, a car with a 2.3 stroker motor at high elevation, spools like a car with a 2.0 at sea level. Basically, we lose about 500rpm or so in spool at high elevation.

As for the T4 twinscroll, it decreases spool about 3-400rpm or so but the transient response is where it makes a big difference. Part throttle and off boost response is night and day different than singlescroll. The main thing is choosing the correct size turbo housing when going twinscroll.
