2.3 Stroker with 5858, better spool???

Hello to everyone (My first thread)
I have an Evo 9, recently built in 2,3 Stroker. I decided to go with AMS V Band turbo kit 5858. The car made 553 Whp on Mustag dyno with pump gas. With that power I am quite happy, but I noticed that car is a bit laggy. It feels like turbo start spools around 4200-4300 Rpm. Does anyone had same experience? Does anyone knows if I can do something in order to have better spool and a bit more top end? All opinions / suggestions are welcome.

It is AMS Turbo Kit. This is Ceramic BB T/C with CEA Billet Compressor. I read that Precision released SEA2. I asked them but is not for 5858. I would like something around 3800-4000Rpm. Waiting opinions ..

Your options are smaller turbo or larger displacement. Some things just are what they are. I downsized from a 6262 to a 5858 on my 2.3 because I was after the same thing as you. Peak torque is right at 4750rpms and I see 22.5 psi at 4200rpms.

With smaller turbo I will lose power at top end, which I don’t want. Larger displacement, do you mean to go with 4g64? Now my engine has 8,8:1 Cr, increasing Cr to 9,0:1 will not help? I want to avoid going more than 9,0:1. Different camshafts could help? See also below Engine’s modes for your reference. Any suggestion is always welcome

Smaller turbos spool early and fall off up top whereas larger turbos spool later but make more power later in the powerband. You have to pick one or the other; can't have both. Spool at 4200 with 550 hp sounds pretty darn good to me.

First of all thanks a lot for your time to reply. Which model of S200SX? Do you have that turbo in your car? Any graph?

It is just my personal opinion, for me looks a bit laggy. However, thanks a lot for your opinion& time. As I said all opinions are welcome, even if different turbo, camshafts etc. “Always there is room for improvement…..”

power is very nice for your setup. the spoolup looks pretty good as well. the S2 cams might help. maybe 200rpm faster. the best thing to do to achieve your goal is change the hotside and header to a twin scroll setup. with the right parts you can gain 500rpm sooner TQ.

S2 or S3 will be better for my set up? Do you know if PTE 5858 is available in T3 (or T4) Twin scroll ? For header, do you mean replace manifold with divided (Twin scroll) one?
