I'd be curious as to how you like it and how it compares to the feel of the stock clutch

I'm currently using the English Racing spec Stage 2 (Unsprung), love this clutch for daily driving. It is rated for 500 ft-lbs of torque, and I'm currently producing 505 on E85. Put about 6k miles on it as such, 6 drag passes, and 2 auto-cross events.

Prior to this, I utilized ACT Clutches in all my vehicles. When this clutch gives out, I will give the Comp. multi-plate clutches first go.

The only complaint j have about the stage 2 is that if you slip it it stinks. And before I removed the clutch pill you had to make a effort not to slip it or it would smell. So make sure you remove the clutch pill if you have not already.

idk I had a stage 2 cc and it made it about 650 miles before it was slipping, swapped to an exedy twin to see what all the hype was about, and I was definitely converted. Maybe I just got a crap clutch but I don't want to experiment now that I have a clutch that I love.

The smell went away after the break-in period for myself, pill still in.

don't go overkill on the clutch, IMO. you are just making the car more difficult to drive for no good reason, assuming you don't plan on more power later.

my car is making the power in my sig and i did fine on an HD pressure plate and street disk, then again i never drag race nor launch the car; only road course.

i just took an Exedy single out of my car. i can't recommend them. a spring broke from the disk and jammed in the pressure plate. we had to pull the trans and cut the pressure plate out with a grinder as the TOB was trashed and wouldn't come unsnapped. long story.

anyway, i've had no issues with ACT. ever. i've also never had the "lockout" everyone talks about. great clutches and the HDSS sounds perfect for the hp/tq you are at right now.

just my $.02

I have a Comp Stage 3 and hate it. It pulsates when taking off from a stop unless you slip it perfectly and chatters like crazy on decel. If it pulsates hard enough you can hear a small bang. I over clutched my Evo and regret it. The Comp Stage 3 in my opinion is terrible for a daily driver. The only good side of it is that it hold well even when you ride the clutch to much. Next time I go with ACT.

that actually doesn't sound normal for any clutch. there may be something wrong. have you had a chance to really check it out?

So finally got the ACT HDSS in and took the car for a drive. Maybe I was just too used to driving with a slipping clutch (think i did another 1000miles on it) when I first started the car I actually stalled lol. This sucker grabs pretty quick. After that initial surprise everything seems great. Will post again after I get some actual mileage on it.

Any advice on breaking in the clutch?

Drive it in traffic that is the quickest way. Highway driving it will take forever.

agreed: drive around town; use it. you were probably used to the bad clutch LOL. my HDSS pretty much drove like stock (though it's been two years, so my memory may be fuzzy).

I'll be going for the sprung Stage 2 Comp... Will put my results here rather than a new thread.

I'm interested to read more reviews on the Comp stage 2 set. I'm currently running an ACT HDSS with street disc and streetlite flywheel. This combo has done a great job. It's held up to 30+ launches and 30k miles. No slipping yet but at times it makes a weird rubbing noise when I try to get it in gear. Could be the flywheel. And when cold it doesn't like going into gear sometimes.

I have experienced lock out with this set and she has always been a noisey cluth as well. Even on first start there was a weird noise that lasted till she broke in. I will say ACT can definitely hold up to the abuse but I may look else where.
