i've switched over at 3000 mi., only thing i noticed is when it is cold you have to take it easy until the trannyfluid gets warmed up. other than that no problems at 8500 mi.

Have you had any problems with your drivetrain otherwise? Transfer case or diffs?

Oh, and is there a specific weight to get with GM Synchromesh or is it all the same? Is it safe to use in the diffs as well as the tranny?

Great thread, guys.

no there is no weight it's specifically just GM synchromesh or Pennzoil Synchromesh(autozone). I would only use it in the tranny though, I have heard great things about synchromesh and bought those 3 qt's tonight from autozone.

Yeah, I just read your other thread.

I think I'll go with Redline in the diffs. Thanks.

i talked to jon at tre,he said the gm was just fine, in my transfer case i use redline shockproof gear oil. no problems so far, just make sure when you change your fluids, to fill them until they overflow to ensure that they are full.

Check out this page:

http://www.pzlqs.com/Tech/Pdsheet/Do...omeshFluid.PDF

It says that Pennzoil Synchromesh is compatible with brass synchronizers, which is why the Evo needs GL-4 fluid.

What is the stock stuff Mitsu uses in the diffs?

The Synchromesh sounds like it's money though.

0.58 quarts of Hypoid gear oil API classification GL-5 SAE90
0.58 quarts of Hypoid gear oil Mitsubishi Genuine Gear Oil Part No. 8149630EX or equivalent

Hmmm... I might stick with the factory stuff. I haven't had any issues with my diffs/transfer case. (*Knocks on wood)
