PST CF 1pc drive shaft installed - 700hp/510tq

CF DS Weight is 16.2lbs +/- .5, using standard bathroom scale.
Stock Weight is 39.4lbs +/- .5, using standard bathroom scale.

Total weight savings = 23.2lbs

Review:
Install was a little more than I expected but all in all not crazy. It is not for the faint of heart and total install time was about 12 hours over 3 days. I had to remove brackets, spot welds, remove strips of metal, add bolt spacers, and do some shaving, and dropping the rear diff by 0.25(more than likely not required).

Vibration:
Small amount added, however could be from the adjusted rear diff support inserts.

Take off:
The car feels very direct now, the clutch engages and I am off. It is very nice, a huge improvement over stock.

Decel:
Wow, all that crazy noise and strangeness from my car is gone. It feels very smooth on decal.

Accel:
Again very direct, fells much smoother and power feels a lot more linear.

Shifting:
Again very direct, and shifting is much nicer and feel like it comes on smoother.

3rd Gear Pull:
Still very smooth, took all 510tq with out any issues, and felt great. I don't know if it revs any faster but it just feels better all the way around.

Overall:
For the price cutting 30lbs off the car, and 22-23 of that rotating weight you cannot beat it. The car feel much smoother now, shifts better, takes off so much smoother, and feels very direct. I love it. I am running 3 oem mounts and a solid front roll stop mount and solid rear diff mounts. I do a little of all driving, road race and drag, and daily. So I will put it through some more tests, but so far with about 40 miles on it I am in love.

I have about 0.40 clearance from the shaft and any surfaces that it could hit. So it is in there tight but no issues rowing 1-4th and doing some heavy downshifting and decal from 7k to 3k.

Big thanks to evodan for his thread and his info. He covers more of the details in his thread.

Why put up dyno numbers unless you did a before and after?

That was a stupid comment. He didn't say or mention a before dyno test nor that he did a back to back. He simply was stating what the car made with his current setup.

Great review. To gain more clearance you could use a big piece of pipe and put it in the center of the tunnel. Get a Jack and put it under the pipe and raise it. This will give the tunnel a little more crown without damaging or altering anything.

Hope that makes sense.

oversight, reading the title really should not have it.

I don't have any before VDR numbers, only my DJ numbers from about 2 months ago. In a few month I will hit the dyno again to turn the boost up a little more. I more or less put the numbers so that people knew how much power the car was making. Since the whole 1pc driveshaft debate and how to test the car exists, I wanted to include as much data as possible.

Makes perfect sense. I think the 0.40 clearance is pretty good. I don't see any reason why I would need more than that. The closest spot is the factory seat mounting point, everything else is about 0.50 and up in clearance.

I am going to fist the car a bit more today, try to get another 40-50 miles on it. But man it is a different car now, really happy.

$1,399 on PST's website. An additional $125 for the Aluminum Yoke upgrade. The upgrade saves 2.5 pounds, otherwise it's 18.5 pounds.

Cool video. Is there some special reason it is related to the 1pc DS? I realize the demo is super extreme, just trying to figure out if you are pointing it out for a specific reason.

Just that you posted you had lowered the rear diff some. Hard to tell from the pics how much angle is on the diff and transfer case.

Got it. I will take some measurements this coming weekend. See if I can get an exact angle. I lowered the diff by 0.25 and I still have my other bushings.

Great video.

Man, all that metal you cut up is structural metal that helps stiffen the chassis.

Love that it killed the decel noise though.

Any way to add this CF drive shaft without cutting part of the chassis like possibly lowering the rear diff a bit to clear better?

Anything is possible.

The two main mounts wouldn't be an issue but the 3 rear mustache bar bolts would cause trouble.

I'd get a 2 piece if your concerned
