Evo 8 Rough idle
Evo 8 Rough idle
Hey guys, heres the initial problem:
The car broke down on me a while back, pulled over and had a friend roll through with a scanner, We pulled 3 codes, Cam pos. sensor malfunction, cam circuit board malfunction, and cylinder 1 misfire. Replaced Cam pos. sensor, fixed the first two codes. got new spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils, fixed the last code. But the car still would not start or run. We did an IACV test and found a non-functional IACV. We replaced the IACV and now the car starts and runs.
Here is the problem i am having now:
In gear the car runs great, but neutral is a different story. When rolling in neutral, the idle fluctuates from 1.4k rpm to 2k rpm and repeats. And at a dead stop, the idle climbs to 2k rpm and holds until we start to move again. Brought it to a friend of mines shop, and the timing was off by a tooth, (most likely skipped when the car broke down the first time). Replaced timing components, and configured correctly. But were still having the same problem.
And so i take to the EVOM gods, any answers?

Update:
The piggyback ECU in the car was not functioning right, previous owner had wired and installed incorrectly, the car now idles fine. The only problem we have left is that the idle will dip under 1 if i pause while shifting. Im leaning towards a faulty IACV or a malfunctioning TPS. Any body got any other ideas?
