What downpipe mounts to the stock cat?

I would prefer not to change my stock cat out however I'd like to upgrade my stock downpipe to an aftermarket 3", stainless steel downpipe.

However I'm having a hard time finding a downpipe that attaches w/o any problems to the stock cat unless there are some major tweaking to the downpipe (i.e. hacking off flanges, cutting down the pipe, etc.)

Does anyone know of any 3" downpipes that will just mount up to a stock cat?

I think Vividracing and Lancershop has some downpipes that might but their description is not straight forward (i.e. "does not require changing any stock catalytic components".

Additional question as well, what's the reason for getting a high flow cat as opposed to a cat delete pipe? Both still fail e-check, is engine noise slightly less with a high flow?

i don't have a 3" one on my car but know a guy that does. it is a helix and mounts very nicely. he wrapped it with the exhaust wrap since it is so close to the oil pan. they also provide spacers for the tie bar to space it down a tad. my hks 2.6 works perfect. take the old one off and installed the new one in about 10 mins. no spacers or washers needed!! good luck!

The TurboXS 3 inch down-pipe will allow the use of the stock cat.

the works downpipe is made specifically to fit onto the stock cat. the standard dp is ceramic coated and 70mm. they're working on a 76mm dp as well.

check out their site.

I think I am going to get the HKS downpipe eventually because I want to keep the stock cat also, but as I'm sure you already know, it's not 3".

The Ultimate Racing Downpipe fits. I have their 3" Turboback exhaust with test-pipe, and i'm able to swap it out for the stock cat if need be.

I'm specifically looking for a 3" dp, so WORKS and HKS are out of the picture.

Are there any other brand names to have a 3" dp that mounts to the stock cat?

TurboXS is the best looking one thus far.

I'm very surprised there aren't more manufacturers doing this since there are a good number of street Evos that want to pass emissions and upgrade their exhaust systems at the same time.

Thanks for the responses.

SoR - I don't think any downpipes fit the stock cat. Most downpipe are designed to fit their (company's) test pipe or high flow cat.

cdavy - I don't think RMR fits the stock cat. A friend of mine called RMR up and asked if the 3" downpipe fits and they said nay.

dyueno - so basically you're saying WORKS downpipe won't fit with the stock turbo, you need the upgrade? Well, it's still only a 70mm pipe.

Our 3" Downpipe for the Evo VIII will fit the factory catalytic converter. If you're interested PM or email me.

Thanks,
