Anyone use king engine bearings?

Just wondering how many guys are running their engine bearings I've been running acl's and thought about ordering some of their bearings to see how they measure out on my freshly bored 2.0 L I just got back from the machine shop.

I'm giving the XP bearings a try after losing an ACL rod bearing during run in on a fresh rebuild.
Variation among the inserts was within .0002".
I'm still in assembly mode so can't give you any more than that.

I know they are big with the Subie and Porsche crowd.

They came in yesterday and I measured everything, looks like the main clearances are good, but the rod clearances are a little too loose, I'm going to drop them by the machine shop today or tomorrow and have them resize them for me and tighten up the clearance a little.

I've used quite a few sets, I find them more consistent than ACL's, seems like you have to order a few sets to get your clearances where you want them.

Also...how are you going to resize the components to tighten the tolerances?

I've heard some people say they seem to run a little more consistent as well. To resize them. They grind off the flats of the bearing race and then hone the hole back round until it's whatever dimension your looking for.

Just for everyone else's sake, you mean shaving the rod cap and rehoning. Is it not cheaper to just get another set of bearings though?

It probably would be if they made the size bearings I need to achieve the tolerance I'm looking for.

Acl's in mine, and thats where they are. Mains and rods wanted a touch tighter, but oh well, run what ya bring. No BS and no squirters so my oil pressure is still high with 20-50. Im thinking its going to have to get 10-30 year round. Even on track in 100deg temps 30 min sessions I was still high on pressure lol.

My last engine was looser, but this is going to be a little more conservative than that build. Runnin a pte 5858 on this setup, should make around 600-650 on ethanol, but I might just have it tuned on pump gas and keep it even a little more conservative and drive it more often, just haven't decided if I want to keep the quartermaster clutch or get something a little more street friendly.
