FP Green downpipe setup???

hey guys, im having a little trouble figuring out whats needed for the FP green turbo kit for an evo 8. Im ready to buy as soon as i figure out my situation. the pictures shown on forced performance website show a v-band outlet with external wastgate and my question is, how am i to bolt this in to my existing downpipe setup?? it doesnt seem common to find many v band downpipes for sale so im assuming im missing something.. and with the evo 8 install kit that you have to buy. it still shows the gaskets for use with the old 02 housing which would be eliminated with this kit any help would be appreciated thanks.

STM has a few options...wg dump or recirc
http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co..._downpipes.htm

MAP has one also
http://www.maperformance.com/map-o2-...vo-o2e-fp.html

The only important things in the install kit are the black outlet pipe and the water lines. The stock 8 turbo's water lines won't fit the new turbo

So to clarify, your current downpipe is now obsolete. To bolt up the new turbo, you need a specifically designed downpipe (one of the above), an external wastegate, and the above mentioned items from the install kit. This is just one of the gripes with FP's new design...spending another grand on additional hardware after dropping 2.5k on the turbo itself.

damn! those are half the cost of the fp green turbo!! well thanks for clearing me up on that.. it makes more sense now atleast. i did see a v band to stock downpipe adapter on FP's website but it says its for the FP30 series turbo's, is that compatible with the green on an evo 8? atleast its only $250... your right about the gripes... you end up spending just as much on accessories to get the turbo installed as you do on the actual turbo kit itself.... HTA71 CHRA upgrade is sounding better and better for the price..

Your current downpipe is not obsolete.

I'll toss another little tidbit of knowledge your way also....As far as I know, FP will still convert 9 turbos to any of their stock frame models. I hate to cast any doubt on your decision, since it seems like your ready to jump in, but it would allow you to re-use your downpipe. It'll save you money...but not time. It takes them forever to get the job done. If your not in a hurry I'd find a 9 turbo and just have them do a plain old journal bearing green. I went with that option a few years ago and my total was about $200 shy of a brand new JB green. These were the days where only JB was available and they started using non OEM CHRAs so if you wanted an OEM center you had to supply your own. It's probably hard to find used 9 turbos but they're out there. Just an option. This will allow you to keep running your car as is while they do the work and you'll have your new turbo in a few months...maybe lol

Hey! Nice I didn't know about that piece. I stand corrected. Still adds a little legwork on your part but saves you money over the bolt in downpipes

Bingo. I love my green, but if I were to do it all over again this is the route I would take. With the right setup it'll make about as much power as a green on pump gas. Green has a little more potential in it if you push it all the way but for the money, the 71 is a wonderful option

If the 71hta is on your radar then you might have already seen this thread. This guy seems to have the setup dialed in pretty well. It's got the ***** for what you're looking for
