Water Injection System?

im just interested does anyone here run the aquamist water injection system? Or does anyone have an experience with it? Im looking at putting one of these on my Evo in the future. Seems to be no negitive side effects all positive.. More horsepower number one improved gas mileage the benifits go on and on.... The norris design evo VII runs it i was just wondering if anyone has outfitted it on the VIII yet...........

actually....

it is in no way harmful... you can also in the cold winter months or really any time use alchol as well.... the thing about water is it gives all the engine parts a nice steam bath... Disolves carbon cleans cylinders just the benifits seem to be endless.. Using this system i have heard nothing but good things. And the fact that one of the fastest evo's around use it.... ehhh im sold....

I had water injection in an older car.. It works great.. I just realized that my UTEC has a solenoid output that can be used to control water injection.. Think of a correctly functioning water/alcohol injection system as the ultimate octane booster.. Which means higher boost on pump gas, etc. etc. etc.. Go to that website, lots of good info..

Hi. There have been a few threads that have discussed water injection. IMO I think its a wicked idea. If Norris has it then it must be good hehe. I hate it when people say that they “don’t like the sound of water in the cylinders”, what a load of rubbish. What do you think the % of water in air is? Its even more in the UK with all the crap weather that we get, yet there are still gains to be had. I like the idea of it stabilising the pressure curve inside the cylinder, thus reducing the chance of detonation.

I had this on my Galant VR-4 and it worked great. I could get just the pump and nozzle and let the AEM run it if I decided to do it again with the EVO..... I am trying to maintain more of a "clean" underhood appearance though, the less stuff added the better.

Not much but it seems to be very pricy. Talked with works a while back... they're trying to get the price point down.

being in calif, I'm stuck with 91 octane gas. I fooled around with toluene and xylene for a while, but I've decided that water inj is the way to go. Now if it was only more reasonably priced...

Check out NASIOC. There were some WRX kits on there for around $300 and they could probably do one easily for the EVO. Make sure you let us know your results.

DIY WI

There is a whole Yahoo group dedicated to DIY WI kits. It seems like most people are putting kits together for less than $200.

That was going to be my next mod for my GS-T. I know of many people who use it very successfully, especially if you have an engine managment system to control it. Even if not, the normal pressure switches work great, too.

I think one of the members on the DSMLink boards just installed a kit and he went from running 17-18 psi on pump gas to 25 psi on pump gas with 0 knock on and FP red. WI is definitely a great mod if done correctly. It's just like having race gas all day long.

Eric

P.S. I almost forgot...the yahoo group is DSM_Water_Injection

Just got back from the dyno.
2.4liter 7.7/1
vpc 660s
25g 25psi
auqamist 1.0 jet with 50/50mix
93 octane
468whp/450tq
heres the kicker. my car likes 12.5-12.8 a/f running the water. But currently 660s are way too small. I wanted to get the dyno #s before going standalone and larger injectors. The a/f today was 13.3 climbing to 14.0 after 6500rpm. no active knock sensor, no blown head gasket. try running those air fuel ratios without water and you'll be walking home.
