Evo 8 misfire

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and I just picked up my 2nd Evo 8! It's a 2003 with just over 50,000 miles, minor bolt ons, megan exhaust manifold, bigger injectors, fuel pump, full exhaust, O2 dump, intake, upper and lower inter cooler piping and bigger intercooler. Anyway, it is not hitting boost. The car will spool up to around 5-8 psi then shut down almost like a misfire when the waste gate is about to open. Previous owner put new plugs in, cleaned the bov and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Which is why I bought it, he claims it needs a tune and last time it was tuned was almost 2 years ago(Ivey technologies). There is no check engine light and the car runs perfect besides for not boosting. He said he gapped them to factory spec, I've been reading and sometimes you need to fiddling around the the gapping maybe? I'm gonna dive in tomorrow checking for boost leaks and vaccum leaks and also check the plugs and try to re-gap them. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

sounds like maybe spark blowout? gap the plugs smaller and maybe you need colder plugs. Maybe the WG actuator? post a video so we can see what it does.

Hard to describe, I'll get a video later this week. I'm extremely busy, it seems like .022 is the best gap to go with?

I had a similar problem. Changed the plugs and found a pin hole boost leak. Problem gone.

1. Boost test and then plug all leaks.
2. Gap plugs to 0.020"
3. Report back.
