71Hta compressor wheel question

So I purchased a 9 turbo from a member for my 05 mr a while ago minimal side to side play but no up and down play what so ever. Then i purchased a 71hta billet wheel and compressor housing off another member. I was told that the bearing housing needed to be machined to fit the new billet wheel. So i was a little upset that i had all the parts but the machining of the bearing housing would cost almost as much as just buying the new chra. Now my question if anyone even has an answer to. If i don't machine the bearing housing will it cause a catastrophic failure? A friend helped me take the turbo apart we installed the wheel and compressor housing everything went smooth and feels like everything fit. Side to side the wheel doesn't come in contact with the compressor housing at all. Wheel spins freely doesn't feel like its binding anywhere.

The only think that should need machined is the compressor housing. You could always call FP to verify...

That's exactly what i assumed. Tried to send Michael@FP a message but couldnt. So i emailed Fp and received a reply from the sales department saying the bearing housing needed to be machined.

the bearing housing does not need to be machined. the 71mm never was actually 71mm. its always been the same diameter as stock 16g wheels.

I figured when i installed the new wheel that if it wasn't going work that it would bind up right away. Which it didn't. I wish i would've taken pictures of both wheels to compare, maybe i will pull it apart again to see if anything seems out of place.
