New intake, less boost???

Hey guys, wondering if someone can shed some light on this situation.

I recently swapped the intake on my Evo IX and according to my AEM boost gauge, I'm seeing less boost....

I was originally running a Perrin MAF intake that I ghetto modded since I'm tuned on speed density.
Yesterday I swapped that out for a ETS speed density intake.

Old Perrin intake I was seeing boost spike up to 25 psi, most of the time it was 23-24 tapering down to 21.

With the new ETS SD intake, I'm seeing peak boost @ 23psi with no spikes and its tapering to 19-20 by redline...

A simple test is to put the old intake back. If the problem follows then sell the new intake and go back to you ghetto-modded-awesome-sauce.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled it twice.
No difference, everything is nice and tight.
Only seeing 23 psi max, tapers to
21-20 and holds.
Old intake would always peak at 24-25 and hold 21-22 psi.

It's funny, because my old intake was a MAF intake. Even though I was tuned on Speed Density.
Perrin tube, 4.5" MAF adapter plate w/heat shield, and a Vibrant filter.
BOV connection was plugged since I have it set to VTA. Still had the MAF attached.

I figured the simpler ETS 3" SD intake would be better since it's just a straight tube to a k&n filter.

Is the new intake just flowing more free and letting the turbo work less?
Someone explain this to me... lol

with it only being about 1 psi off I wouldnt worry about it to much.
