Pulled motor over a year ago and have a question for getting it back together.

Hi, i pulled the motor in my Evo 9 over a year ago. Now i am having trouble finding where this random wire goes. I called road race engineering and his suggestion was the starter but he wasn't sure. I haven't had a chance to check and just wanted to get all of your opinions first. The wire is white with no stripe, and it is 2 white wites wrapped in tape with a wire loom around it. There is also a pierce of metal with a bolt hole on each end. Sorry if this should have gone in the electrical section. I wasnt sure since it has to do with the engine still. Thanks everybody in advance. Cant wait to have this thing running again after my latest build on it. A lot of time, money, and frustration has gone into that car lately.

It's definitely some sort of ground. Could be the alternator ground, maybe starter, or could be a engine to frame ground.

Is everything else connected?

I tried to keep one end of everything connected to.... But I had my motor fully built and had to strip the motor before I took it to him. Then money ran short and I couldn't get it back to running till now. This is the last thing besides old filter and oil needing to go into my car and she is running again. Thanks for the responses. You think it's a ground for sure though? That was my first though too.

So it most likely came right off the block then? It definitely looks like a ground wire. It COULD be a supply for heavy power source (like a starter) but it seems to short for that. If your starter and your alternator are connected properly, my bet is the block to frame ground wire.

Put oiler and your filter on, try to start it and see what happens. If nothing, try connecting it anywhere from your block to your frame and see what happens.

I'm just letting you know I think that's the cable that goes from your fuse box to the bottom of you positive battery cable. That's what it looks to me, not no ground cable.

the power cables do tend to have tabs on them, whereas grounds are usually thicker, larger terminals. they are usually also a single, larger wire.
i agree with the post above.

Thank you. That last picture looks exactly like the one end of the wire and makes so much sence. One more question. I relocated my battery to the trunk and I now have the evo 10 fuse block for the battery under my hood. I can't find the original post that told me what wire goes to what amp fuses on the evo 10 fuse block. Can anyone help me out with that? All I really need to know is what amp fuses each wire needs from the positive battery terminal and I can match it to the fuse block since it has the sizes written on it.

I thought about that, but why would that come off during an engine removal?

Honestly it probably came off from when I disconnected the evo 10 fuse block. Then I probably took the wire off the clear the engine bay for pulling the engine. I will find out tomorrow if that is the wire
