Evo 9 head without MIVEC on evo 8 block

Before you tell me to use the search bar...

I am wondering if I can put a bare evo 9 head on my 4g64 evo 8 block....

I do NOT want to do mivec, so I am not looking to swap the ecu and sensors and what not..... Just wondering about fitment and coolant and oil passageways lining up.

Has anybody done this before with their evo 8?

I can't think of any differences other then the mivec cam gears that would cause it to not fit.

The head itself bolts right on. No issues. I have a 4g64 block in my eve 9. The issue you will need to work out is locking the mivec cam gear so it doesn't move.

I wondered about this too. Subaru AVCS gears will lock in a certain position until a certain oil pressure is introduced to the gears. Do EVO MIVEC gears lock in a default position too?

I can make it easy on you and trade a good VIII head for your IX head
