Pros and cons of having mivec on a high HP 4g64 with evo 9 mivec head?

I am almost done with my 4g64 2.4L build. I've been having people tell me that it's a good thing to have mivec and others tell me it's just one more thing that might fail. I already have a built head with 1mm over sized valves. Springs and retainers and hks 272 cams. What is required to delete mivec and what is required to run it on a 2.4L. I know if I will run it I'll need to get a mivec oil line, adjustable cam gear for the exhaust side. Ok now here is what confuses me. How do I adjust the cam gear timming on the exhaust side if I keep the oem intake cam gear and use a adjustable exhaust one.
Thanks guys.

Contact English Racing, they seem to know more than anyone else about these builds. I sure wouldn't listen to friends since they truely have no clue what they are talking about and are just blowing smoke.

I will email English but I highly doubt that they will give out that kind of information unless I will be buying stuff from them wich I am. The friends that are telling me to either run it or no. All have owned or still own modded evo's. I am a Honda owner and own a turbo integra ls and owned a integra gsr for 3 years that ram 13.s with boltons and a tune. All this evo and mivec stuff is new to me
Thanks

I think English has at least a few 2.4LR's out there with a MIVEC head. I know I will be putting a MIVEC head on either my 2.3 or 2.4.

in order to get the proper mivec range of advance using a 4g64 block you need to modify the mivec gear for more travel. Its hit or miss sometimes with it. I don't think any vendor will mod one for a customer due to liability of piston to valve contact.

Is there a how to on modifying the mivec cam gear? What are my options as to leaving the mivec gear on there and running a adjustable cam gear on the exhaust side?

Scanned tru your long rod build. Looks bad ***. Can't wait till mines is up and running. Also I didn't know you can use a oem mivec line. What mods did you have to do I order to install it?

I like it and fully approve the previous messages.

It is best with a modified MIVEC gear (at least the easy version) and big cams.

never heard of Mivec being a disadvantage. Matter of fact I have never heard of Mivec failing. Failing in what way? Did they elaborate?

Nope they did not elaborate. I am new to this mivec stuf. I drove a 97 integra gsr for 3 years prior to purchasing my06 evo9 with a seized built 2.1L engine due to oil starvation. Learning new thing every day. Like today i found out i will have to pull that little thing out of the crank so that the flywheel can sit on it properly. Hopefully i can do it with the crank in the block since its all assembled with the head on it.
