So I got my 06 back from the shop a month ago and the car has been running great. Made 325 325 on a mustang dyno. Fast forward two days ago the car started making an odd whine noise that I thought was an air leak. Did a home boost leak test and held 30 psi fine. Today the whine became loud and the car shutdown. Pulled the timing cover off to fine the belt still intact but pieces of the belt shreded.

I'm clueless and very depressed, any ideas for the issue?

You ought to read through that thread. Pretty informative. Apparently there's a bracket that chafes the timing belt, a problem that appears to be exclusive to the IX. Only inconsistency I see is that your noise began after maintenance.
