AEM intake completely sucks. never buy it

You'd think a company that makes its name on intakes would do a better job making it fit right. LOL this thing is a piece. it has a useless heatshield, that is like fanning a fire on a hot day with your hands. Not only that, but the fitment is horrid. my engineer friend spent 2 hours trying to get it in. and if that wasnt enough, it put the blowoff valve right under the coolant line from the radiator pinching it. DOH! i give this thing a big im scrambling for solutions now, because this thing sucks that much that i have to sell it and get something else. anyone want it for $100? I'll leave AEM for honda owners...cause i'll never own anything AEM again.

I also thought the fitment left quite a bit to be desired. The heatshield was shredding one of my MAF wires and had to bend it by hand and I'm not the only one to have that problem.

Once it's in place though it seems to be as good as any other on the market.

I guess I was lucky. I couldn't use the heatshield with my RMR Intercooler pipes so I just put it in. My only problem is that the air cleaner is too tight of a fit.

the K&N is isnt much better. Stay away from that one too. The carbon shield is flimsy, streatch the hell out of your MAF wires, 1/3 of the diameter on the inside pipe is blocked off by a deflector shield or somthing, and item #25 of the instructions show you to put the BOV in backwards!!!! Oh and poor customer service when i called them on the #25. RRR

My AEM intake fit perfectly. I had no fitment problems or problems with the MAF wires. It was an easy 1 1/2 hour install.

I agree that HKS is really nice, I am a bit surprised that AEM would release an intake that didn't fit well.

Hope your engineer friend is not an engineer for automobiles, LOL . Took me about 30-40 minutes to put it in. Swapped mine in and out so many times, I could prolly do it in 20-30 now .

The only thing i REALLY dislike is the filter. I don't have my proof of purchase to get a new smaller one from AEM (bought it so long ago), but other than that it's a pretty good unit.

Try the Buschur mas pipe and filter if you are going to go back to aftermarket and not just run stock, I really like mine. Sorry you're having troubles with all of this.

thanks, yeah its quite discouraging that its not working out right. Atleast i have piece of mind since turboxs came into the evo world...knowing that my turboback will be flawless will ease my thoughts. but what to do about the stupid intake problem...maybe use a samco inlet pipe or something, we'll see what nino has to offer tomorrow on my gynormous visit.

hell yeah, if I was in the market again the only two choices for me would be my current Buschur pipe or the Samco silicone one, that is a super sweet item and it allows some flex as well, I assume, which could be beneficial in this particular application.

Take the BOV out of the upper intake piping first, fit it into the AEM intake, then replace your upper I/C piping.
