am i the luckiest guy on earth or what??

good day all,

also posted a few weeks ago about my oil filter became loose and i manage to save it on time until yesterday....

while was returning home with my wife/kids, stopped at a spotlight i noticed
a scratching sound , first i though it came from a car next to me but i was wrong....

after 30sec and while i started moving i noticed the red oil lamp was on

unfortunately i only thought to move right and stopped not turn off car at once,
after 10 sec engine simply blocked.....

aftermath:

the oil pump is connected with the cam timing belt via a gear which is simply attached
to the pump via a screw.....

the screw somehow manages to unbold itself causing the gear to hit the plastic
cover (thats why i heard a noise) after it broke it and fell of the belt was loose
causing my engine sto stall rendering the valves !@#!@!@!@

i dont know until now what the extend of the damage is (i will find in during the week)

maybe i am the luckiest evo owners on the planet earth...

has anyone else heard about a similar case before or i am the number 1 case?

A very sad evo owner,

Michael.

Sorry to hear that. Who was the last to touched the crank pulley/timing belt area?

my mechanic replaced both belts & crank pulley but this happened in 4/2012....

the last upgrade work was a bolt on turbo swap 1 year ago.

when changing belts is also oil pump pulley affected?

thank you for your interest.

Michael.

Yes. It's all connected the the main crank pulley. But it has been a long time ago I can't blame the last installer. What I think you called oil-pump pulley is actually the balance shaft. I have seen so many failed 4G63 due to this balance shaft belt failing and taking out/damage the main timing belt in the process.
