HKS GTII7460R flapper failure - how to repair?

Hi,

With just 4000mi and 4 trackdays of use, today the flapper on my turbo failed on me.

It was fast. Yesterday it was ok until the last lap. Then it just failed completely. Boost now comes only above 5000rpm.

Now i have to fix it. What is the best way? Is there a replacement part from HKS?

Cheers

best fix would be to find a turbo shop willing to bore a 9.8 mhi housing to fit the wheel. It might be possible to repair your housing depending on how it failed. could be as simple as needing an actuator, some hks cans fail and cause flapper to stay open

Haven't taken it apart yet. It happened today.

I was willing there was a solution like buying a replacement part to avoid downtime. I guess I have no option other than taking it apart to see what is damaged.

I like the oem housing idea. If the problem happens to be in the flapper I will consider that one.

It is not taken apart yet. The car was left at the shop yesterday.

When they take the turbo out I'll ask for some pictures for you. Thanks

No. It is a pre-kai turbo.

Hi.

I found out the problem. The flapper arm bearing is worn. I tighted the actuator so now it is not leaking - or leaking less.

Anyway the problem will come back soon. What HKS can do for me?

Are your sure this is a reliable solution?

I'm still trying to do a clean fix. I found this:

http://www.hksusa.com/2008-2015-lanc...bo-components/

Unfortunately $1000 for a exhaust housing that can fail again sounds bad.

I would like to know why HKS asked me what was the exact problem because now they won't answer any message. Odd.

Hello!
Sorry for the delay on an answer for you. Scott is no longer with HKS, and we weren't aware he had responded to this thread!

I am not 100% sure why he asked to have pictures sent to be honest. We can get new housings for the 7460 turbos, but they are only for the KAI versions. If you want the problem fixed, and up to HKS specifications purchasing the housing would be the only solution really. The housing is also special order, and would take about 8-10 weeks to arrive from Japan unfortunately.

Let me know if there is anything else I may be able to help with! You can PM me or email me at support@hksusa.com
