Like anything it depends on how its used. being used on the street is different than beating on it for five 20 minute NASA sessions.

the turbo itelf, ie the CHRA, turbine and compressor wheels will hold up fine. The only problem will that the divider in the MHI turbine housing will eventually crack, and then may eventually fail. It will still likely go for quite a long time though.

Also, remember, a green is making more heat to make 30psi than a red, the red more than a black, etc.

What are your power goals?

I'm trying to make around 550whp on e85 most likely going with the black mhi. Dd won't be beating on it too much trying to keep it reliable

Built motor or stock block? A red will make 550 dynojet on E85. A black will be a good bit laggier, but it'll be a little easier (a bit less boost) to make 550.

Built 2.4 so I'm wondering what the lag difference would be.

Probably about 500rpms difference in boost threshold. I would go with the red personally. It will probably make 550tq and 550-600hp. And be an absolute riot to drive with full boost coming below 4000rpm if you get a twin scroll hot side.
