o-ring head and block?

have a little dilemna that i was hoping to get an answer to

i currently have an evo 8 with built head, built trans and TC. i want to max out my fp red without worries of managing the tq.

i found a used bare bottom end that was bored .20 over, when i finally got a chance to clean it i noticed that it was o-ringed. normally this would be great, however i have a buschur stage 3 head which is also o-ringed. is it possible to run an o-ringed head and block together?

thanks

Edit: from the research I've done , I could have the block decked with the copper o-rings in it and that would work

this is what Tom at Tscomptuned stated on a post where the member had a 2.3 liter build block and it was o-ringed.

"I don't see why it wouldn't. it will just crush the MLS gasket on both sides with a different set of o-rings. Id do more research on it though first before you go ahead and do it. The BR head uses a steel oring, this block has a copper oring."

bad idea to mix 2 dissimilar metals it will have a chemical reaction.

so is the head and the block, but the headgasket provides a surface for the dissimilar metals to expand on with different rates, I think he would be okay honestly, best thing to do it call an experienced machinist and ask.

The two rings would need exactly on top of each other in order to reduce the potential of having uneven clamping force. You can verify the radius from the center of the to each ring but you will need to be very precise with your measurements.
on a side note, are you planning on decking one of them to ensure at least one is flat? if so, then remove that one ring!

i could get the head or block decked, how deep are the rings and would getting it decked take off enough that i wouldnt need to have an o-ring?

The machinist should be able to measure the depth and decide how much material to remove.
