Wrong IACV?

Hey guys,

Ever since I've had my Evo, I've battled random idle/startup issues. These have mostly been resolved with a retune, however not 100%. It's annoying, even more so after the tuner wouldn't go back over it without wanting more cash simply because he didn't see the issue the 4 times he started the vehicle. Anyways, getting off topic here.

About a year ago (I don't drive my car much), was on the hunt to resolve the idle issue. I checked the BISS (again), checked the IACV (again), checked the tune (again). Finally, I decided maybe it's time to replace the IACV.

In my research, I found the OEM/stock IACV to be VERY expensive. I was also confused as I found this, and looked at the picture only to find out it's the same one that's on my car currently.

Long story short, this was cheap enough that I purchased another to try. It is *literally* the exact same thing that was on my car when I bought it. Replacing this did nothing to resolve my random idle issues.

Which leaves me wondering:

A- Is this the wrong IACV for my Evo?
B- Did my car come with the wrong IACV when I purchased it?
C- Would dropping the cash on a new/finding a used actual Evo IACV be worth the money/trying?

This is what I purchased (the incorrect one I think)

Amazon.com: #B004 MD628318 AC571 99-05 Mitsubishi Chrysler Dodge IACV Idle Air Control Valve 99 00 01 02 03 04 05: Automotive Amazon.com: #B004 MD628318 AC571 99-05 Mitsubishi Chrysler Dodge IACV Idle Air Control Valve 99 00 01 02 03 04 05: Automotive

Going back now and reading other reviews, it seems hit or miss on Evo owners having luck with this. I still think this is *not* the correct one for my engine.

I bought a non OEM one from a auto parts store and it made my car not want to idle on cold starts. I would have to give it gas to keep it where I wanted it. I took a multimeter to both and the both read the same, so I cleaned off the old one, threw it back in and the idle issue went away. I'd go with a OEM one new would be the best bet because you never know if that used one is bad. Try eBay for ones people take off or maybe a junkyard.

Thanks for letting me know about your experience on this. I've put up a WTB in the forums here in hopes that someone has an actual, affordable, OEM one I can try. I wouldn't be opposed to getting a new one, but damn they're expensive! lol.
