Whats going on fellas! First off id like to thank whoever helps out in advance. Much respect to you.

Im looking this week and next week to purchase a Used Low mile Evo IX. Im looking for one with a 5 speed. I want to do it right this go around. If anybody knows of a super clean low mile modded evo let me know.

BUT

My question is: I was debating on either a clean low milage stock one. Or a Built motor and built trans/diff ect evo. I dont want to buy one with 700+hp as I'm afraid that It wont be a good daily driver. I was looking for one under 500 hp with strong internals and upgraded trans ect. Has anybody purchased an evo with a built tranny and had any issues? Do these shep trans hold up? I wont be launching it often.. Although id like to go to the track once in a blue moon. I want to be able to enjoy the car and on occasion light up a few people on the garden state parkway.

I only have one shot at this. I want to be able to keep this evo forever. I dont want to have a headache. Id like Goto car meets. Drive it on the street and be able to take it once in a blue to the track(seriously rarely). Id like to get advice from people who have purchased Evos with shep transmissions and built motors.. fp turbos ect.

What would you guys go for? The max im willing to go is 32k price. Although id like to stay around 25-26

Once again. If you know of a car somebody is selling (that is rock solid. clean. reliable. and built well) let me know. Keep it on the low and shoot me a pm. Keep the rest of the advice in the post.

Thanks again fellas!

There are many options that you can get in a shep trans, from "mild" to "wild" so to speak. In the end though its just a stock trans that has been gone through and shimmed to make sure everything is in spec. You can get various other options like hardened gears and upgraded synco's, but none of that should affect the longevity of the trans. An Evo having a Shep trans wouldn't scare me away from the car, but I would question why the car had the trans replaced if its close to stock with low miles.

If you don't know Evo's very well then I would by something that is lightly mod'd or stock. If you buy a car that's been built by a reputable company, then everything could have been done right and you'll have a great car. If however you buy a built Evo that has been half *** put together just to sell it, then you can wind up with a pile of bills at your local repair shop.
