Coolant exploded evo 9
Coolant exploded evo 9
So coming home from gym middle of the night I decided to do a pull on a straight road before my house since I don't drive the car much, and boom white smoke came out from the hood and green liquid went everywhere. AFR, egt, temp looks all normal after I park the car. Read previous post but mostly concerns 05 and a TSB for it? The coolant is everywhere in the engine bay, tried to clean most of it but it's middle of the night so can't do much until tomorrow.
Car has 78k, all maintenance done.
From my noob researching I should check the line going to TB and water pump? Should I do any other precautions before I head to bed? Anything else I should look for tmrow when I jack up the car? Thanks for assistance.

You probably burst a coolant hose when you boosted it.
That in turn is probably caused by too much pressure in the cooling system.
That's caused by something else again.
You'll probably want to retorque the head.

Can I reuse valve cover gasket? Just replaced it less than 10k miles ago. Or should I just put in a new one?
I'm guessing I can retorque using the 1x1 method?
Hmm probably it's time for me to just upgrade to ARP.

Which hose blew and How old were the hoses? If gas is getting past the head gasket you can't simply just tighten down the head, the gasket needs to be replaced. I would eliminate all the simpler things first before attacking the head.
Also if it was gases getting into the coolant system i would expect you to be blowing coolant out of the overflow not blowing up a hose. the Radiator cap should open up to relieve pressure at a much lower PSI then it would take to blow up a healthy hose.

Didn't have time this morning before work. From last night what I can see with a flashlight:
Overflow cap/hose wasn't leaking.
Passenger side didn't have alot of leaked fluid compared to driver's side.
Boost is at 25 (stock turbo, ebc, ic pipes, e85). Hoses are old since the car came off the lot. Hopefully this afternoon or tomorrow can look the other hoses.
Just want to get all my bases covered.

The maintenance schedule calls for replacing the coolant lines at 60k miles or 60 months, which ever comes first, so you are well overdue. Drain whats left of the coolant, replace the hoses, refill, and go from there.
hoses to replace:
Upper and Lower Radiator
2 throttle body hoses
2 heater core hoses
2 turbocharger hoses

So buddy and I were able to do a quick pressure test and look through and found the upper part of the radiator leaking.
For DD and road race any recommendations?
I see koyo is rated well, cbrd for price, and mishimoto for warranty?
