Hey Everyone,

So, awhile back when I first took my evo on a test drive, I noticed the Sststststsst noise coming from the engine bay.. The seller claimed that the car had an aftermarket BOV, but after closer examination, it was the stock evo 8 BOV. I checked all the connections going to and from the BOV and everything is secure and nothing is vented to the atmosphere. The car is getting 1.4 bar (20 PSI) on full acceleration. Not sure if its compressor surge or if the BOV is leaking... I have no idea.. And as i am starting to build her up, I need to figure out what this issue (if any) is. Ive never heard a stock BOV sound like that, post a pic of it and how its mounted, maybe its mounted backwards?

Yep definitely not an 8 bypass valve, post a picture so we can conclusively tell what it is.

Most likely not. Its hurting the response of your car some however .

 

As stated above its routed backwards.

You should fix that. Its not doing its job installed wrong. Sounds cool doh

 

Probably gonna upgrade the BOV anyway.... Are there any BOVs that sound like that?

Another DV installed backwards. Seems like many people don't pay attention to its position before removal and reinstall it backwards since backwards looks better. Being backwards, it's not opening when it is supposed to and opens only when intake manifold has big enough vacuum. And the valve won't open as big.

 

Turbo smart plumback. Sounds exactly like that and won't hurt the car
