Borg Warner S369sx-e or GT4202r

Guys,

Really need your help:

My setup are as per below:

87mm pistons
156mm rods
94mm cranks
280 Tomei Cams
Head fully ported and polished

Will be running on race gas (Panta)

I'm contemplating on either running with s369sx-e or GT4202r. It'll be meant for a drag setup. Please help to give some advise.

369 and don't look back get it with the 72 upgrade and you have 1000 whp with ease, plus extended tip for better spool. 4202 is old technology

There is a company that works with Borg Warner that they offer a 72mm compressor housing for the turbo. It isn't Airworks or whatever it is another company. The name escapes me at the moment but it is just an upgraded compressor housing that is 72mm instead of 68mm. It isnt the s472. Extended tip is just enlarged fin tips that make for better spool up being they are designed differently than standard tips for turbos.

Here is an artical that will help you understand the difference.

Depends how well your 2.2 will perform. What is your compression ratio? I think on a 2.2 even with moderate compression the 1.0 would be the way to go. I will be doing the 1.15 with my 2.4 just being i have the extra displacement to help spool it and stupidly high compression which should make it spool a bit faster. It will be a little laggier but with the displacement it should help some. I am guessing your building a drag car which it wouldn't matter that much for lag so I would say 1.0, get that power and get it to the ground

Depends on how much power you really want to make and what kinda powerband you want. The 472 is a monster, even with a 2.2 with 10:1 its going to take some time to spool. If you want a better powerband id stick with the 369. Either way you go your going to have one hell of a fun car.

I do not, but you can always find me here. And your very welcome on the help. I know its a tough decision when it comes to turbo selection, but it comes down to how much power you wanna make, what kinda power band do you want, and what your going to use it for.

Guys,

So it has come to this. We have pulled a dyno run using Dynapack and the results are quite surprising for the S369SX-E.

Between PTE6766 vs. S369SX-E we've managed to get the following:

PTE6766: 846hp @ 2.7bar / 39.1 PSI boost
S369SX-E: 838 @ 2.3bar / 33 PSI boost (Fuel pump needs to be replaced to push higher boost. Had a pressure drop when tried to increase the boost).

So now, we want to change the turbine. I have worked on the comparison of trim size based on the below image.

I would like to run a direct port Nitrous (running on Panta Race Gas). The rest of the specs still about the same as my initial post. I am targetting to get >1000hp.

Which would you guys get? Again, this is for a drag setup.

Trim sizes of the next turbo upgrade.

Well if it were me I would add 6 more lbs of boost and find out what it will do. I mean the turbo flows 98lbs per min it should do the job. As far as upgrading to something larger I personally think its a waste of time. The turbo you have will do the trick. Idk how spot on your tune is but I have seen numerous s369 turbos at Force where I have had my car make 1000 whp on a mustang dyno. I would fix your fuel pump and system to make sure it flows enough fuel add a AFPR if needed to keep your fuel pressure where it needs to be and go at it.

Are you running a twin scroll exhaust manifold? Sounds like a single scroll.
I had to get mine (s369) up to 36psi to make over 800hp, I will be testing a new 1.10 a/r housing this winter.
Can you post the dyno graph please.
What a/r housing is this?

Lots of guys in the diesel world are running the s369sx-e with the old s366 turbine wheel. It's clipped and flows quite a bit more than the s369 turbine. You will obviously loose some spool tho that's why I'm trying the larger a/r.
