5-Speed walk through. quick vid

I know it's impossible to tell a condition of a transmission from pictures and video, but I have seen pics of what REALLY bad synchros look like (Here on EvoM).

Can anyone tell, from this video, if this transmission looks reusable? The guy that sold it to me says the guy he got it from (yeah... I know..) told him there was a grind going from 4th to 5th at high RPM.
I'm a noob... but can see no damage, of any kind here.

I planned to buy new bearings, a JDM 5th, and the hub/slider/synchros. But man.. this thing looks pretty nice, IMO.

experts?

Thanks in advance. Just hoping something may be blatantly obvious in the video so I know where I should direct attention.

Nothing that raises a red flag. You need to fully break it down to the input output shafts and then fully inspect all the components.

Id start off by ordering a synchrotech carbon synchro rebuild kit. And if anything else is needed order oem.

How well it works depends most on how good the cone clutch grips.

I know pretty much ZERO about transmission innards... but I'll consult the FSM and see if it mentions what to look for. Otherwise, I'll toss it in and just see how it works.

You didn't show us the 5th gear synchro in that vid...

And that bearing looked fine. I wouldn't bother with new bearings.

The top gear on the output shaft is reverse. 5th is the one under it. The shift fork covers 5th at the angle you were at, so we didn't see the synchro...lol

And I had just carried the thing from the back yard to my work bench... so wasn't wanting to move it around any more.

Great.. so I'll probably look and they will be all gnarly

That would be the ultimate test.

Asking the interwebs to help diag/inspect the trans.. Easy but not that accurate.

Before spending 4-8 hours taking the trans in and out why don't you have a professional go over it and replace ANYTHING that looks suspect? Having a professional install the parts and shim the trans correctly may save you ALOT in the long run.

I'm told since I don't need shafts or bearings, no need to measure clearances because nothing will be changed. Should be no need to change shims. Everything looks awesome, so.. worst case scenario: swapping 5th gear synchros/hub/slider.
I don't think I need to have a professional swap out the parts I ordered. The trans looks perfect inside, so I may not even NEED those parts.. but eh well.
I wanna do the JDM 5th... so I figure why not do the synchros too.

Worst, WORST case scenario, it turns out something else was wrong with it and I end up letting it sit while I'm in school, to be fixed later LOL.

I'm hoping to toss it on and have it work so I can do another track day or two, before school starts.

Meh, no biggie. If i had the funds, I'd send it out. Since I don't, we'll see. I have a long, long break where I won't be driving the car, after this summer. It can sit for as long as it needs.
