Anyone install a Quartermaster hydraulic release bearing in a 6-speed trans? I haven't seen any pictures of it, but all the writeups say it just bolts on. Problem is that there are no bolt holes for it to bolt onto...

Yes, I got everything sorted out. The kit I purchased didn't have a bushing that should have been there. I'll give you the details and then what I think of how it goes together...

The missing bushing goes around the input shaft of the transmission and the throwout bearing goes around that bushing. There are no screws needed, but the hydraulic cables definitely need to be positioned properly. On the outside of the transmission, the kit does not include the right connector for the hydraulic line from the stock master cylinder. I'm not sure exactly what coupler is needed since I just searched my junk bin for the right one. The starter also needs a minimum 2mm shim to prevent the starter gear from continuously sitting on the flywheel.

What I think of the kit:
I definitely don't like how the throwout bearing mounts to the input shaft of the transmission. The bushing is extremely tight and I had to use a combination of filing, sanding, heating, and hammering to get it on the shaft. The bushing doesn't stop the throwout bearing body from spinning, so it's likely that the hydraulic cables whip back and forth inside the bell housing sometimes...
Other than that one thing, I like the clutch and throwout bearing very much. The pedal feel is really nice, shifting at high speeds is crazy smooth, and starts from stopped are not as bad as advertised.
It's definitely not the clutch for people who hate squealing or rattling of any kind. It's also not the clutch for people who aren't expert manual drivers. There are many day-to-day situations where someone might try slipping a regular clutch, but doing that with this Quartermaster will result in stalling or a very reduced clutch life. I have just under 4k miles on this clutch and everything is still perfectly good. My ACT 6 puck lasted over 100k miles with aggressive street driving and some track use.

I just picked up the Quartermaster Street Kit part# 28962P1636 with hydraulic bearing, For the 6 speed. I've got the Albins gearset and 4.09 FD...Gathering parts to build 1000hp 2.0L... I'm not installing it till the Spring time. Maybe I'll make a custom bracket to support the cables. Any extra pictures would be great. Thanks

I would definitely reconsider using a 6-speed trans for anything more than 450hp. The oiling and case strength are not up to the task. There is a ton of information out there on how to do a 5-speed swap. You’ll be much happier with a transmission that doesn’t overheat and crack.

The 6 speed was built by Shep with reinforced 3rd, 4th & 5th gearset as well as other mods for better oiling. I am not going to be launching it. Pretty much a highway car...

Shep will tell you that no matter what you do to a 6-speed Evo trans, it’s not good for more than 450hp. Also, why make a 1000hp car for just highway use? It’s not going to be any fun to drive at that speed. It’s just going to be noisy, stiff, extra Evo style jerk in the drivetrain, maintenance every day, and gas stations every other mile. Better off making it a track car only.

Ix quarter master
I have a 6 Speed Evo IX MR and could really use some advice. If you see this Text me @ 8136386140, I have the HRB and Full Twin Disk but I’m not sure what else I need to buy or where to buy it. I’d really appreciate it. I just want to have everything there when I bring it to my mechanic and not waste his time.
