LSD gear oil stop-sale
Didn't see this yet so thought I'd give a heads up for the OE-only folks.
----
Subject: URGENT Stop-Sale on Part# MZ320345 LSD Gear Oil
On December 19, 2017, MMNA was notified by JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation that LSD Gear Oil GL-5 SAE 90 (Part# MZ320345) does not comply with the EPA’s Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
----
Then some yadda yadda about fines etc. They are supposed to be finding a suitable substitute, but in the meantime sales of our lsd oil are halted entirely.

So I know there have been like eleventy threads about this a few days after I posted this, but instead of replying to all of those I'll just post here on the first one.
The temporary replacement oil Mitsubishi is suggesting is ENEOS GL-6 90wt LSD oil. It's hella expensive. From Mitsubishi, so far it is only available in 5 gallon buckets until they start re-packaging it... a 5 gallon bucket is $174 NET price (meaning that's what Mitsu pays before markup).
For anyone wanting to order, part number is ENEOSLSD90. Dealers that are unaware of this (because they suck) will be auto-shipped one can on Jan 31st, so they will all have it in stock at least temporarily after that date.
Whether they re-order it, whether they will break it up versus sell the whole 5 gallon bucket etc, that is up to them.

I couldn't tell you on availability outside of Mitsubishi. Might not be available anywhere else? Regardless, if they are saying gl6 is the only approved replacement I wouldn't be making personal judgment calls on gl5. They picked it for a reason I would have to think.

Anyone know if this is the permanent replacement? Problem is, I had the transfer case oil replaced at a dealer with All Fleet instead of ENEOS. So I'm not sure if I should replace all-fleet with ENEOS, then yet again have to replace ENEOS with something other.

Consider this the new fluid until further notice. The old fluid may return (have heard a few things, but only hearsay), however they are currently in the process of repackaging the ENEOS fluid in quarts specifically for Mitsubishi use. That should give you an indication of how long we can be expected to use it if they are investing in repacking it.
