Exedy MM022HR - Solid Twin Disk

This clutch made its debut at the DSM/EVO/GTR shootout last year and I was curious if anyone picked one up or tried it? They were offering it for a GREAT deal.

The increased thickness over their standard disks and sheer more robust parts in it, made me think it might be a good high powered street option - more so than the exedy triple. Being solid - its going to split its stress on the input shaft 50/50 verse the 33/33/33 that the triple would.. hopefully doing less damage over the long run.

I have an email out to Evan Cline for some follow up questions on it - but I was curious if there was any real world miles on one of these?

The triple doesn't splite stress on the shaft 33/33/33. It has a hub that goes on the shaft, and then the disks go on that hub.

I would run a sprung clutch until the car absolutely needs an unsprung clutch. Your transmission (mostly your synchro's) will thank you.

I am aware of the sprung disks benefits.. sadly - the car will easily over power an exedy twin HD.

I don't see how/why a solid disk twin would hold more torque simply because the disks are solid. Unless they use an even stiffer pressure plate, or the clutch is completely different.

You're probably going to need a triple, or a QM twin.

I honestly do not know. I just know that with the hd PP, Evan Kline told me that it would hold the same as the triple.

I have emailed him repeatedly since, with no response - which has me doubting the legitimacy of this new clutch.

He may know something I don't, it's entirely possible since he works there...lol. But that would mean the clutch is different ways other than sprung/unsprung vs the sprung twin. Different clutch material, more surface area of material, etc.

but what tq.

At your power level I would have definitely gone with the exedy twin HD - sprung version.

I hope others come on here and update their experience. Unfortunately the lack of response by Exedy turned me off to the new clutch and I decided to go with tried and true Exedy Triple HD.

Yep; I ended up going with a QM 8 Leg Race myself. Drivability is okay per say
