Apex Powered Titanium Evo 4-8/9 Coil On Plug Unit

Good day guys,

Any of you has ever used Apex Powered Titanium Evo 4-8/9 Coil On Plug Unit.

They claim to use Brand new coils (Japanese made coils with German copper windings not the aluminum garbage) with a Built to fit Denso# 9091902240 or Denso# 9091902244 coils. -Mil spec tefzel wire -Water resistant rubber seals (for both the wires and on the bottom of the mounting bracket. important if you don't want to hydro lock your motor or short wires) -Mylar wire looming (chemical resistant, moisture resistant, heat resistant, and does not conduct electricity)

What is your review or opinion on them.

Brand new non-oem coils...lol. And as long as your spark plugs are installed, there should be no fear of hydro locking the engine.

I would pass simply based on the overdone BS sales pitch.

I haven't heard anything about that kit but I have a couple comments. First of all AL wiring isnt necessarily crap; that's more so an old adage where you hear about houses burning down from AL wiring. If sized properly AL is a very acceptable conductor. It sounds like the kit is made up of some nice components so Id imagine its a nice kit not trying to knock it.

But also, please explain how a lack of seal on the coil will allow an engine to hydrolock? How is the water getting past the spark plug and into the combustion chamber?

EDIT: Sean beat me to the punch. Yeah I see that as more sales and marketing hype than anything else. I've been using a Spoolinup non CDI COP for years now with great success. Matt is a stand up guy too. Sparktech also makes some really nice units. I'd stick to the tried and true personally.

The Denso 02240 and 02244 coils are what everyone uses, nothing special about them.

His marketing is bull****. You're not going to see 2-3mpg increase. maybe .2-.3. +10whp? hah. maybe if your ignition is already a limiting factory in your car's power. COP won't magically add power if you're not already at a bottleneck on your current setup

Yep everyone above nailed it. I too have had the Spoolinup non CDI COP for years with no issues. I'd suggest the OP go that route.

They're virtually identical. You won't notice any difference between them

Buy the one you're talking about, buy SparkTech, buy Spoolinup. They're all going to perform the same, it comes down to the post-purchase support

Buy the parts online and make your own cop kit, very easy to make one, that's what I did.

Build your own with any of the diy kits. And get denso coils on eBay

That's about the only way it will be worth the purchase price IMO

Using cheap aftermarket Chinese replica coils won't last very long and they don't perform the same as authentic Denso coils.

This Apex coil on plug setup is being pushed/marketed on youtube through Dustin Williams and his red Tokyo Drift inspired Evo. The Apex kit has an interesting price point and presentation but is hardly unique when compared to other setups. Spoolin Up Non-CDI COP owner here.

Just go here and make your own:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...lug-setup.html

It's what any of these smaller companies have done, only they've started making their own and then monetizing that

There are plenty of options online to find all the parts or a full DIY kit if you want to make your own setup. A simple search on ebay or google will bring up a bunch of options. A plug and play setup is for someone who's willing to pay the extra to have it done by a professional and covered by a warranty. DIY is the way to go if you can do basic wiring and want to save some money.
