Front case breather mod ( at rear balance sprocket )

When doing balance delete can you turn the defunct sprocket position in to a breather outlet for crank case ventilation?
Any threads or pics? I'm thinking of installing AN threaded nipple there

Good idea. How will you keep oil from blowing out? Are you fabricating some sort of perforated pipe to insert?

Hmmmmm the stm vent is out the side of the block and only looks -6 max? If you went at the case I'm sure you could get -10 but I'm not sure if a fitting and pipe work would clash with water pump pulley or anything else in that area maybe even aux belt?

You may want to check if others have tried this. I recall reading about oil dip stick vent but that spit out too much oil. You may have the same problem. If too much oil comes out, your catch can can fill up with oil too fast.

It is possible, but every setup is going to be different. At a minimum run the line uphill as long as possible so as much oil can drain back in the block before getting to the can. For a typical streetcar there are better ways to vent the block so you dont fill up a catch can just cruising around.

Thanks STM, so a 90deg hose end on the weld-on doesn't foul any belts / pulleys?

I think we used a 150 or a 180 degree fitting and looped it around the back of the block. Let me see if i can find any pics of it, been a long time since i did that setup.
