This is someone else's evo 9 head. I should be getting the same work done to mine. This isn't done yet (this is right after the valve seats were cut). They still have to blend the cuts to the chambers.

Thanks Joe. I will replace all the hoses under the intake manifold while it is easily accessible. I don't think everyone needs any write up on this.

Getting it done isn't the problem. The problem is $$ at the top with time as second.
I just realized the cost I'm spending for this power so far and always using new gaskets.

I took a close look at the intake manifold gasket and noticed that it is a perfect fit. My question to all you guys that have installed this is:
How do you keep it centered on installation? If you install head, hang gasket on, and then bolt up manifold, there is at least one spot where gasket hangs into the top part where injector sprays. So that one or two cylinders will have a different air/fuel mix. It's not much but cylinder 2 and/or 3 gets about 0.5 mm gasket interference. I think this is because the gasket is held in place by 2 studs (1 on each side) and center bends slightly from its own weight.
So I'm thinking that I install intake manifold first and then install it together with head onto block. But how will this extra weight and size affect install on head gasket?
Other option is to use glue to hold gasket in place by gluing gasket to head ports at cylinders 2&3. Then install head and manifold afterwards. Thoughts?

I've thought about intake manifold too. And from the other threads, I don't see any advantage to screw with factory piece. I didn't find any proof of gains (actually read of losses!), I'm leaving it alone. I'm planning only have it hot tanked and clean up the casting roughness on each side of each port.

I bolt the intake manifold to the head out of the car. Way less difficult that way. Just leave the one nut off for the alternator bracket.
