Should I go E85?

Hey everyone
Just curious to hear some opinions. I was thinking of going on a dual map 93 and E85 - e85 has its pros and cons l, but was wondering if should spend the money for a dual map. How are peoples gas mileage with E85 (I know it's lower but by how much)? Has anyone had reliability issues with E85? Also, if anyone has similar mods to me, I am a bit curious about possible hp numbers
Mods that I have:
- Fp Green 73hta
- ETS UICP AND LICP PIPES
- ETS INTAKE
- ETS FMIC 3.0"
- 1250cc injectors
- Walbro 255
- GSC S1 cams
- Hallman pro mbc
- Arp headstuds
- Evo 9 bov
- Greddy TBE with test pipe
- Mishimoto radiator
- STM oil catch can

Absolutely go for it. Been on E85 for almost 10 years. Wasnt sure if you have the MIVEC head? If so, expect 430-450 whp or so (DynoJet)

I run a very similar set up / EVO9 just dynoed at 460 WHP (dual maps S2's / HTA71 / RC1000's)

Mileage is approx 20-25% less efficient than 93.

I concur. Made the switch to a dual map tune 91/e85 and have been on e85 since early fall 2017. If e85 is available within a reasonable distance why not.

yea, where I am currently, theres only 1 pump like 20 minutes away.. But next year, I'm going to school where there's 6 pumps with E85 all within 5 miles from the school... So hence the dual map, for when I come home. Plus it's like 1.85 a gallon of E85 vs 3.50 for 93

Also, sorry for my noob question, but would u need like a switch to flip between the 2 maps, or do you need to go into ecuflash and switch or does it just do it automatically

With the Tephra V7 software you can change maps by holding the accelerator pedal @ WOT(ignition ON / Engine OFF)

I have it the old school way & have a wired switch into the ECU

Absolutely, go for it. I see you are in New Jersey. Only a few places have E85, but you can fill a few gas cans when you go to the gas station.

I usually get about 160ish miles a tank of e85 but I would never go to normal pump gas. Get better boost and timing advantages. I also live in ND where e85 is VERY limited. Just make sure you take care of your fuel system with e85 fuel lines in the future and periodically check the fuel pump filter. ND has the $hittest gas in the country so my filter gets changed a lot.

Another noob question: since the car only has one fuel tank, how do you switch between the two different types of gasoline? Do you just drive the car till it's completely empty and then fill with different fuel? Does it have to be pretty much completely empty or is it okay if E85 and 93 mix?

You run the tank until the low fuel light comes on. Run the car another few miles & then fill up w/93 (change map settings)

Dont bang on the car too hard after filling w/93 right off the start. After running approx 1/2 tank of 93, fill up again to get a more pure 93 mix

Not sure about the fuel pump and MBC, but if you have E85 available then definitely go for it! Accurately monitoring/changing boost settings with the MBC would be my only concern with this setup.

Just make sure you never turn up the mbc past how much boost you've been tuned for. I'm running a mbc and got tuned for 35lbs, but turning it down just makes the car run richer. The reason I like my mbc is for turning it down for road course and turning it up for drag racing

Can't go wrong with e85, it is arguably safer than pump and BOOOOST
