For those of you who have swapped your block bracket for the revised version to cure the common belt noise on the 9s. Were you able to reuse the motor mount studs in the old bracket for the new one or did you have to source new studs? I believe the new bracket does not come with the studs pre-installed and I did not see them available any where I've looked so far.

Have you tired calling STM?
If you can't find them, I'm sure they shouldn't be a huge issue to get out of the old bracket. Just use some PB blaster and the double nut method.

No I haven't called, figured I would see what others experienced first. I don't have the part yet but I will be trying the double nut method to reuse the old ones first but they are pretty rusty. I'm just curious about what others have done.Originally Posted by letsgetthisdone

I just installed the revised bracket last week with my timing belt job. It's BS that the bracket comes with the idler pulley but not the studs.
I found the part number on CAPS but didn't have any luck finding anyone who had them in stock. I did what letsgetthisdone said and PB Blasted the studs and pulled them out of the old bracket.

Agreed lol. Yeah I figured that's what most people have done. Guess I'll be going this route as well, thanks for your input.Originally Posted by Siege

No problem! When you double nut the studs to back them out put them flat side to flat side. They held better.
Don't forget that the middle bolt of the bracket is a wet bolt and requires sealant too.

Nope, this revised bracket thing has been around for a few years now. I also had to use the double nut method to extract the old studs from the older bracket without damaging the threads. As mentioned above, the second bolt down (middle bolt) that goes into the engine block taps into an oil galley. It must have thread sealant applied to it before being installed.
