Unhappy Question about J pipe for install on FP red.

Hey guys, I need a little help, I am installing my new fp red and have everything done and ready except the Evo 9 style short J pipe that came with there Evo 8 install kit for my car is like 6-8 inches too short to connect with my intercooler piping.
FP doesn't mention any trouble with the pipes mating up and I havent seen anything about it anywhere I have looked.

What am I missing here?? My Evo 8 j pipe is the right length but does not clear the starter. Am I supposed to get Evo 9 intercooler piping to mate up with the new Jpipe?

Thanks for any help, Im ready to make some power, I guess I can ghetto fab up something if I have to but I want to do it right.

The intercooler piping is the same for the 8 and the 9, unless you have an LICP that eliminated the factory outlet with its own.

Post pics of what you have.

I think my issue is that one of the only mods my car had when I got it was an ETS front mount, and the j pipe that was on my car was about 2 feet long and connected with a coupler to short (around 8 inch) hard pipe to a 90 degree coupler at the bend made onto the intercooler. Here are pics, first is the j pipe that was on my car.

It looks like you have one of the two pieces that makes up the Buschur Racing LICP. I have the other piece you need and have no use for it. PM me if you're interested.

MHI or SS turbo? When I installed my green, I had to swap J pipes. I don't remember which I ended up with, as I was swapping turbos often.
If you go OEM, you'll need the right one.
if SS, then never mind LOL

Its MHI housing, and yea I just figured out I wont be able to use the buschur J pipe because it doesnt clear the starter with the FP red so I believe I am going to have to order an overpriced factory style LICP to make it work.

The compressor housing is the same Evo 9 compressor housing.

Yep. In my case, was going from an HTA71 built from the ti/al CHRA, so I had a different j-pipe. I was just letting OP know that there is a difference between 8 and 9, in case he didn't know. That way he could be sure to have the right one.

OP: If I remember right, when I had the wrong j-pipe, I also had a problem being too close to the starter and the length was off. I thought I was going crazy until I realized the 8/9 and are different I was really lucky that I have a small collection of those things, so had both sizes!

Good luck, man. Hopefully you get it taken care of ASAP.

Thanks all you guys. I knew the compressor housings were different and I would probably have issues trying use the old j pipe but once it was gone and the correct 9 J pipe is on Im still left with a huge gap in piping since it was a buschur J pipe for an evo 8, so Ill just have to order LICP kit from someone. Trying to figure out who makes the best one now since theyre all expensive for a little tube lol.
