What grit sandpaper can i hit the pistons with. I have a few little nicks that i want to smooth out, would like to not have issue with detestation

I'd be careful with your sandpaper idea unless the pistons are out of the block and even then they'd require careful cleaning after sanding. Any particle from sandpaper hard enough to scratch the bore is engine damage.
