Evo 8 piston,cylinder wall dammage

hey all, i'm Mikkel. had a evo for about 2 years now, love the car, reside in Norway. got some issues though :P

so i had my car being tuned on e85. was currently hitting 750hp when we started pushing coolant, all agreed that the head was lifting due to the boost, and had blown the headgasket.
the shop took the head off and discovered slight dammage on 1 piston and the cylinder wall. they ran a compression test before they started tuning and all was looking good, they say the dammage is caused by detonation
and knowing the car history i'd say its probobly been that way for 3.5-4k miles, as that's the last time the car had some ignition issues. car has been running 6k miles since a complete rebuild. pistons are wiseco 1400hd.

will this be fine to run with? putting new pistons in is a cost i cant afford at this moment, hence why im posting this here.

The issue with running it like that is if the top ring land has pinched the top compression ring, it will start burning oil. That really should be replaced.

Detonation like that isn't caused by an ignition issue, it's caused by the tune or by using fuel with insufficient octane for the tune.

i see. Yeah i do agree it needs to be replaced for sure. But concidering the car goes tops 5k miles pr year i might get away with it until i can get the next block built. Not sure though i guess its a gamble

It "probably" won't explode. I just don't like giving out that kind of "advice".

If you take it off the road now, the money you save on insurance, registration, fuel, and maintenance can you to the rebuild sooner...
