taking the engine harness is not a problem really, especially if the engine is out... or head at least..
Take the shifter surround off, pull the abs control module, unplug the ecu and jsut pull the whole harness out. The only issue I had was releasing the two clips that hold the part of the harness going to the ACD control unit as those clips are behind the heater.. Otherwise it was straightforward..

I just yanked on it and they came off
