Rod knock/spun bearing? Sounds like it’s coming from head though...
Hello EvoM, my car has been running fine it’s whole life and the car is bone stock and has no signs of the engine or car being previously modified. During the weekend I was coming home from the girlfriends house when I heard this ticking/knocking noise coming from the engine, I pulled over to next gas station and had it towed home and haven’t driven it since. I really want to believe it’s not a bottom End problem because I can feel it in the head and hear it in the head but my gut tells me it’s a full rebuild. I will attach and video clip below, tell me what you guys think! (And maybe some previous quotes from some of your guys engine build just for reference)
by the way, here’s the link to the video^
another note I forgot to add is that when the car is idling it sounds completely normal, I only revved the car up to 2-3k and nothing higher because I’m scared to

I don't konw why you did a compression test as it aint gunna tell you anything. And stop turning the motor over your're just causing more damage. Did you run the car low on oil by chance? It definitely sounds like rod knock. Drain your oil and cut open your oil filter.
Oil is at perfect level
Not sure why you're checking compression, that won't identify a knock.
Drain the oil, look for metal. Remove the oil filter, cut it open, look for metal. Remove the valve cover, look for problems. Remove the oil pan, look for metal and check the rods to see if one is super loose or if the big end has turned blue/black.
And stop turning the engine over.

Never been re-tuned? In Nissan world, sr20det 2.0L with a generic tune (too much timing) Rod knock and low compression cylinder #2 is a typical result
the other thing that happens is people turn the boost up too high, pit the block blow the head gasket from detonation.
But that doesn't seem the be the case here.
So why did it spin a bearing with low mileage?
Was the rev limit removed and the engine redlined? Maybe downshifted into a wrong gear at one time?
Or maybe run low on oil at some point?
Try to ask yourself when any of this happened. Maybe previous owner.

Nope never, car has never been tuned, I never over revved the car or miss shifted into the wrong gear when upshifting. Never has been low on oil since I consistently check it, and I’ve had a shop so surprised on how un touched the car was, they said they’ve never seen an Evo so stock. I always keep up with maintenance like a hawk as well. I just don’t understand, I don’t even beat on it either, only time I really have was up at the tail of the dragon a few weeks ago.
I have only run motul oil with k&n filter
