Will this shift selector work for a US trans??

So, I had a guy in the UK send me a shift selector assembly thingamajig because they are the only place to brake down transmissions and sell their parts. It turns out the internals are very different from the US. In my picture, the original part is on the left and the UK version on the right. They both seem to essentially work the same, just using different methods of locking once the rod is pushed in and rotated.
Also, the UK version does not have a weight where the shift cable attaches.
I haven't installed the UK version to test out because it's hot outside..so I decided to post here LOL.

Is this off a non-Evo transmission? Will it work? I guess I shoulda known better than to buy from another country? I just never thought the parts would differ so much.

You could try to ask Clive in UK about this. He is a good reputation tranny builder there. Found this email address from Uk forum, not sure if it's the right one:

Thank you! I will email him first thing in the morning. I went ahead and installed it, it seems to "work " although reverse seems a bit tricky.

Did you try contacting one of the Big 3 Evo trans shops? Or English Racing? I'm sure someone has one laying around so you're not guessing over something that's over seas...

That's the first thing I did. Either no reply or I got a "no". You would think there would be some busted transmissions somewhere to salvage one off of, but everything in the U.S. is apparently rebuilt and reused
I haven't found one aaaaaaaaaaanywhere. That's why I resorted to shopping out of the country.

Have you tried reaching out to Jack? He was pretty helpful when I needed to source some parts, maybe he can help you out. Just try calling them, sometimes they don't answer, just try again later.

Yes. I emailed (I know...) then later sent a message on FB. I got a reply asking exactly what it was that I needed. I sent a pic and never heard back. I assume that's a "no".

He rarely responds to my emails either
I've been able to catch him with a phone call though and he was able to answer all of my questions.

I don't want to be a nuisance over this, though. I'm sure if he had one I would have gotten a reply.
