J pipe fitment

I’m having a issue with j pipes on my evo 8 with stock evo 8 turbo. I’ve had three different ones. The one that came on the car was bent and leaking also it was extended. The other 2 I got I got them from a yard with evos and those 2 won’t allow the wastegate to bolt back up. This is my first evo and internal wastegated turbos. I’m trying to find out what the correct one looks like or if one of the ones I have is correct and that something else is wrong.

2nd j pipe beside the oem that’s been extended by previous owners.

Oem next to 2nd

2nd making contact with wastegate

2nd making contact with wastegate

3rd angled out

2nd next to 3rd

The outlet between the 8 and 9 is different. Be sure the turbo hasn't been changed out with a 9 turbo.

Mine is the 8 turbo idk what the pipes came off of as I didn’t pull them. Someone said the short one looks like a evo x and the other one I’m not sure. Was told the 8&9 j pipes angles are different

I also think you have an evo 9 outlet pipe. IIRC, evo 8 pipe is longer than evo 9. Measure the length of your pipe and maybe someone on this forum has their's out and can measure to compare. I have one somewhere and if I can find it, I'll measure length too.

Kinda hard to do as the original one is bent and crushed, looks like original owner jacked it up from there or something.

The short one next to the original. The long black one is about the same length but angles different not allowing me to mount the wastegate

If you do have the stock evo 8 laying around would you want to sell it? Cars been down over a yr got it back together found this vaccume leak and want it back together, been eager to drive it.

I forgot to look over the weekend. I'll search tonight.

Looked at another evo 8 today had a fp red on it but the pipe was like the longer one I have but bent the other way towards the charge pipe. So guessing these are for a different turbo setup or for a aftermarket charge pipe intercooler kit

I actually had both J pipes. This is the only 1 I can find and I need to measure in 2 parts (realize that the nipple thickness should be subtracted if you want whole length estimate). So this one is about 7.7 inches on longest side.

I have a photo of the 8 and 9 j-pipes. Might help identify what you have. They are both assembled so that the nipple is facing towards the air intake and the j-pipe outlets face forward in the general direction of the radiator.

Thanks Carbon toast. That makes it much easier to tell the difference. I didn't know there was THAT much of a difference!
If I have what you need Derekhollister, I'll trade you for your short pipe. Unless you need that too.

Ok that helps so it shows I have a 9 pipe as you can see it angles towards radiator. And the short one no clue what it’s for.

Can you get a image of it laying on the back instead of on the side. Can’t tell if it angles off like this or not
