I have the greddy with small spring mod. No problems at all since day one. Holds boost just fine.

Even if you recirculate the HKS I don't think the it can open enough under lower boost to keep the engine from bogging and almost stalling out. The greddy with the spring mod (as long as you have stock I/C piping) will perform and sound better than the stocker.

If you're looking for reliability, you're better off finding a 1st Gen 4g63 BOV out of an Eclipse/Talon/Laser. Unless you plan on boosting past 25 psi, this OEM part will hold it and not leak. Plus you don't have idle problems or tuning problems like stated above. Then there's that cost thing too!

I have the HKS SSQV with recirc as well...no problems at all...nice and loud, too!

BTW, the fluttering sound when you let off under light boost is normal for the SSQV, and won't harm anything...

The GReddy will cause stalling/idleing problems. The HKS may also, but if you've got an intake and recirculate the HKS, you'll still hear it and the stalling/idleing problems will be minimal.

The biggest factor in my choice of the HKS over the GReddy is the diaphram design. The HKS is a pull type BOV, and the GReddy is a typical push type. The GReddy diaphram is prone to get weaker and leak over time. The HKS will not, the HKS actually closes tighter as you build boost pressure. The more pressure you boost, the tighter it will close.

Also, just a word of advice. For those of you buying BOV kits, that were made specifically for a certain car with an adapter etc, don't need to tune your BOVs. 9 times out of 10 they are preadjusted from the factory and will work perfectly fine the way it is. Just put it on. A lot of people put them on, then mess with the adjustment screw to change the sound, this just opens up another can of worms. If its not broken, don't fix it.
wrong, Greddy, and HKS, (just like most bov's) work the same way. Manifold pressure in the top chamber and boost pressure in the bottom chamber with a spring helping keep it closed. When the manifold pressure reduces to a vaccum when you lift of the throttle it PULLS the valve up so the boost pressure can be released. Contrary to what most people think, most bov's work this way.

Try the MR BOv. It idles like stock and holds boost like an aftermarket. Im settling with this BOV

Greddy leaks after 14psi. You are better off with the stock bov. If you so upgrade go with the HKS. I run 28psi on C16 and it hold very well. Good luck.

the more research I do, the more I like the HKS.. partly because of how its chamber works, most BOV's use the diaphragm to hold the valve closed against boost pressure, the HKS uses the boost pressure in the intake pipe to hold the valve closed, and uses the diaphragm to bleed off the boost slightly then pull it fully open.. but it'll never leak under boost because the more boost in, the more it stays closed.. So adjustment isnt necessary other than to allow it to open under lift-off, but not under engine vacuum at idle..

What I need is a 1G adapter with a HKS Flange on it so I can swap it in place of my 1G on the upper pipe without welding a new flange on my upper pipe..

and the 1G holds boost ok, but it did blow open on my at 23psi, but leaks a bit at part throttle driving, and a little at idle with stock cams..

greddy.....never had any kinds of issues with it....boost held fine and no leaks....you just gotta adjust the spring right, and of course take out the small spring, and everything will be dandy.....
