EVO 8/9 Transfer Case Info - Lets talk

Hoping for help from the evoM community again. I plan to make another video covering EVO 8/9 transfercase options. I have a few questions.

1) Would a jdm evo 7 t-case work on a US EVO 8/9?
2) How about a jdm or EDM 8 or 9 transfercase? would either of them work on a USDM evo without modification?
3) All USDM 03 & 04's were non-acd, correct?
4) Have you converted from ACD to non-ACD? If so, why.
5) is there are way to tell from the outside of a non-acd t-case if it has an LSD?

Thanks!

I made a video tearing into both T-cases:

I can't answer your questions, but I do want to say thanks for your updated t-case video on YouTube. Should be helpful when it comes time to swap mine out this winter.

1. yes, but it is a ACD case and you need the ACD hardware, pump and ecu
2. yes, the same as 1.
3. do not know... I am from EU. .
4. most people do it so that they do not have to bother with ACD pump. It doesnt drive as well as ACD car though
5. you need to pull the driveshaft and intermediate shaft and take a peek inside the hole to see..

Thanks for the reply.

1) 05 and 06 USDM evo's are already ACD. So it sounds like it could be a direct swap for them?
4) That was my though as well. Just wondering if anyone here has done the swap.
5) To see what? How would you visually tell if it has an LSD?

If you have the tranfercase out of the car, look inside the whole that the intermediate shaft goes it...

1)If you see a pin link the first image below(pic1), its an open diff. Correct?

2) but if you don't see the pin(pic2), is it safe to assume it has an lsd?

This is my understanding as well, #1 is open diff. And no bar with LSD. I believe the RS came with LSD but I'm not if RS was offered in 2003/2004.

Non-acd RS was only available in 04. So there are only like 260 out there from the factory.

Thanks. The photo i used to show the lsd looking non-acd case is my used T-case i bought that they seller said was from an 03. But i'm pretty sure its on 04 RS, or an aftermarket lsd in an 03 case.

I'm 99% sure you would see the pin/bar going across if a evo 8/9 transfercase had an open diff. Just surprised no one else really seems to want to confirm my thought.

I believe once the 04 RS came out with LSD then drivetrain specialists were able to order the part # for the LSD and swap it into the Non-Acd Transfercases. I remember seeing a video about it on youtube.

Yea, they make aftermarket front LSD's. Quaife and WaveTrac.

Found think with a quick search confirming you would see the pin with an open lsd.
