Spark plugs show signs of Det

I'm just curious as I'm not that familiar with reading plugs. The car was idling for a bit before I pulled them (cold start so it was rich). Anyway I see deposits on the plugs and I'm thinking wtf? The car has no timing in it at the moment and runs very rich WOT as Im just starting to tune it.

From my logs I haven't had much knock that I can see, again the car has super conservative timing....the GAP seems to be a bit much at .026 but still i haven't noticed any issues.

I haven't driven the car since last year so it's on an old tank right now.

just looking for some advice.

What are you thinking is det? I see soot and ash, but plugs are very hard to read over the internet.

Maybe its just ash? I thought I saw lighter colored deposits on the spark plug and I wasn't sure if it was detonation. Again though I have no idea about reading spark plugs. This is after about a 40min drive home from storage and a cold start...so I'm not sure how much can be made up by these plugs.

The thing is the car is like 6-7 degree's up top at 20psi and 3-4 on the way up, with rich AFR. No knock that I can really see on the log, so I was just starting to tune the car last year and for some reason I just wanted to check the plugs.

Like Razor said is difficult to get a read with these images other then they are black and sooty. Are these plugs brand new with just 40 minutes of driving? If not then how many miles on them?

Detonation can leave a speckled appearance on the insulator if you examine sample closely below.

Reading the plugs is important at a point but These cars aren't hard to tune. Unless its 11:1 and you're running 87 octane . Review the timing map thread and don't get carried away.

Small turbo. A few degrees on the hit, make your way to 4-6 at 5500, then up to 12-15@8000 depending on fuel/health. Rinse/repeat.
